Nikolay Zakharovich Karakulov (Russian: Никола́й Заха́рович Каракулов; 10 August 1918 – 10 March 1988)[1] was a Soviet sprinter. Karakulov won gold medals at the European Championships in both 1946 and 1950.

Career

Karakulov won the 200 metres at the 1946 European Championships in Oslo, running 21.6.[2][3] Four years later in Brussels he won another gold medal in the 4 × 100 m relay as part of the Soviet team.[1] In addition, he won 17 gold medals at the Soviet Championships, including seven consecutive ones at 100 metres from 1943 to 1949.[3][4]

He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labour.[1][4]
