Number 9 Films is a British independent film production company co-founded in 2002 by producers Elizabeth Karlsen and Stephen Woolley, after a long collaboration at both Palace Pictures and Scala Productions.[1][2] The company is one of the United Kingdom's leading independent production companies forging relationships with a wide range of talent in the UK, across Europe and in the United States.[3]

Projects

Films produced under the Number 9 Films banner include Breakfast on Pluto, directed by Neil Jordan; Made in Dagenham,[4] directed by Nigel Cole and made into a West End musical in 2014;[5] and Carol, directed by Todd Haynes, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, which received nine BAFTA awards nominations and six Oscar nominations, including Best Actress and Supporting Actress respectively.[6][7]

The Limehouse Golem, directed by Juan Carlos Medina,[8] and Their Finest Hour and a Half,[9] directed by Lone Scherfig, are scheduled for release in 2016.

Currently in development and scheduled for release in 2017 is the biopic Colette directed by Wash Westmoreland, starring Keira Knightley as the French novelist.[10][11] Other projects include Middle of Somewhere written by Phyllis Nagy,[12] and On Chesil Beach starring Saoirse Ronan.[13]
