Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Pañcastikayasara (en: the essence of reality), is an ancient Jain text authored by Acharya Kundakunda.[1] Kundakunda explains the Jain concepts of Ontology and Ethics. It is said that Kundakunda composed the Pañcastikayasara for students. Hence, the work serves as a brief version of the Jaina philosophy. Āstikāya are substances (dravya) which have both characteristics, viz. existence as well as body.

Five āstikāya
Jainism recognises the five āstikāya namely:
- Jīva (soul),
- pudgala (matter),
- dharma (medium of motion),
- adharma (medium of rest), and
- akasa (space)
