Panther Creek High School (PCHS) is located in Cary, North Carolina in the United States, and is the home of the Catamounts. It is part of the Wake County Public School System and, like other public high schools in the region, is on a 4x4 block schedule. Its mission is to "engage students in opportunities and experiences that will prepare them for future challenges." Panther Creek was established in 2006. Its first graduating class was the Class of 2009, Safwat Abrahim being the first student to ever walk in the history of the school. As of the 2009-2010 school year Panther Creek had an enrollment of 2,239 students.
Rodney Nelson was the principal from 2006 until his retirement in 2014. The current principal is Dr. Camille Hedrick. Assistant principals include Jonathan Chang, Drew Mabe, Benjamin Olin, Eric Rosen, and Susan Taylor.
The school posted the 9th highest average SAT score for 2012 in the Raleigh Durham area: 1645 with 86.3% of students taking the test.
Panther Creek High School has a number of extracurriculars and clubs. One particular organization that many students are apart of is Future Teachers of America, a program that unite students interested in becoming a teacher or an educator. This organization was founded in 2012 and currently has 50 members. [1]
