Placid Lake State Park is a Montana state park known for its scenery, camping, aquatic recreation, and fishing on a tributary of the Clearwater River.[2] Park facilities include 41 family camping sites and a boat launch ramp.[3] The lake gained its name from a New Yorker named Hiram Blanchard in 1892 who named it after Lake Placid in his home state.[4] The park, along with nearby Salmon Lake State Park, had the highest visitation of state parks in the Missoula area in 2012, with 45,000 individuals visiting each park.[5]
