Main Building of Salesian English School (Secondary Section)

Salesian English School (Secondary Section) is a secondary boys school in Hong Kong. Founded by the Roman Catholic religious institute the Salesians of Don Bosco, it is located in Chai Wan Road Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong Island. The primary section of the Salesian English School was established in 1950 with the secondary section following in 1955. In 1959, the first senior secondary students sat the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE). Construction of the secondary school building finished in the same year when the school was opened by the then Hong Kong Governor Sir Robert Brown Black. A new indoor background and new building project were launched in 1996 and completed in 1972.[clarification needed Not possible] Three years later, the secondary section converted from a private school to a subsidy school. The two building expansion projects began in 1996 and 2005 respectively.

In year 1990, the first female teacher was employed at the school.

History

In 1941, due to demand, the Salesians of Don Bosco established the Salesian Children's Home under the Salesian Seminary, the progenitor of the Salesian English School. The school is located within the Salesian China Province of Mary Help of Christians.

In 2010, the Salesian English School celebrated its 60th Anniversary. [1][2]
