Further to the initial US$ 28 million grant from the President of Omar Mine Clearance Organization, Shamshad had aimed to become self-sufficient through advertising by 2008, but when this failed to occur, the President agreed to continue subsidizing it on a year-by-year basis (US$ 1 million in 2008, according to Nasim Fazal).
