Sheinelle Marie Jones (born April 16, 1978) is an American journalist and news anchor working for NBC News. She is the news anchor for the Saturday editions of Weekend Today and a correspondent for all platforms of NBC News.[1] She is also a fill-in co-anchor and rotates with Dylan Dreyer as Orange Room anchor on Weekend Today and is also a fill-in news anchor and Orange Room anchor on weekdays.
Education and early life
Jones was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of U.S. District Court Judge C. Darnell Jones II and Sheila Kinnard.[2]
She attended Wichita Brooks Middle Magnet School and Wichita Heights High School, both in Wichita, Kansas, and Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.[3] Her first broadcast job was in Springfield, Illinois[3] for WICS-TV.[4]
Before going to work for NBC, Jones worked at KOKI-TV, the FOX affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma[4] and WTXF-TV, the FOX O&O in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[1] She was at the Philadelphia station for over nine years.[1]
Personal life
Jones is married to Uche Ojeh and they have three children together.
She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority.
