'Splendour' or 'Splendor' or 'Starksplendor' is a modern cultivar of domesticated apple which was developed in New Zealand, and is regarded there as a popular commercial dessert apple.[2] It is said to have resulted from a cross between 'Red Dougherty' and 'Golden Delicious'.[3]
Fruit is ribbed and conical shaped,[4] medium-large. Thin skin[5] has a light green background with faint pink blush green lenticels. Flesh is crispy and juicy and bites well with pleasure. White with green ting. Flavour is very pleasant for eating,[4] sweet with no acidity[6][5] and balanced with hints of vanilla and vinous.[4] Keeps well in storage but bruise easily.[3] Fruit is late ripening and hangs well on the tree.[6] Is a reliable heavy[5] tip and spur bearer.[6]
Is an ancestor for the Pacific Rose apple and for the Aurora Golden Gala.[2]
