Sun Prairie High School (SPHS) is a comprehensive secondary school located in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The school is administered by the Sun Prairie Area School District. In the 2008-2009 school year, there were 146 teachers and 1,802 students at Sun Prairie High School. SPHS is a WIAA Division 1 school. It is a member of the Big Eight athletic conference.[1]

In the summer of 2010 the school moved to a new building in the southeast part of town. The new high school includes a gym that seats 2,100 and has an indoor track.[2] The former school became a combined 8th and 9th grade upper middle school and was named Cardinal Heights Upper Middle School.

In 2012, Ellen Keal became the first ever National Online Individual champion from Sun Prairie High School, winning gold medals in all seven categories of competition.[9]

In April 2014, the Sun Prairie Academic Decathlon team represented Wisconsin in the Large School division of the National United States Academic Decathlon online national competition taking 5th place among the large schools.

Music

Sound of Sun Prairie

The Sound of Sun Prairie is the summer marching band located in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin that competes in the annual MACBDA championships. Their most recent MACBDA title was in 2014.

Jazz

The Sun Prairie High School Jazz I has been selected to compete in the Essentially Ellington Jazz band competition in New York City 8 times in the past, most recently in 2015.
