The inaugural edition of the Tianjin Open, an International-level WTA tennis event, will be held from 6 to 12 October 2014 at the Tianjin International Tennis Center. The venue has a center court that seats 3,500 people, as well as 12 outdoor courts with lights, four indoor courts and a tennis club.

There are now six WTA-level tournaments in China: Premier-level stops in Beijing and Wuhan, and International-level stops in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Tianjin.
