Tokushima-Kochi at-large district
The Tokushima-Kochi at-large district (徳島県・高知県選挙区 Tokushima-ken-Kōchi-ken senkyoku?) is a constituency of the House of Councillors in the Diet of Japan (national legislature). It was formed pursuant to a 2015 revision of the Public Officers Election Law from a merger of the Tokushima and Kochi At-large districts to address the imbalance in representation between rural and urban districts.[1] The district has 1,261,100 registered voters (as of September 2015)[2] and will be contested for the first time in the House of Councillors election that is scheduled to be held by July 2016.
The district will represent Kochi and Tokushima Prefectures and will elect two Councillors, one every three years by a first-past-the-post system for a six-year term. One Councillor will be elected at the 2016 election.
