Tsim Tung Brother Cream (or Brother Cream for short, also known as "Cream Aberdeen")[1] is a famous male British Shorthair cat born in 2005 living at a convenience store in Tsim Sha Tsui East, Kowloon, Hong Kong.[2] On March 31, 2013 it was reported in the South China Morning Post that Brother Cream had over 108,000 followers on Facebook.[3] As of May 2014, Brother Cream has over 160,000 likes on Facebook.[4]

Overview

Brother Cream disappeared on 10 July 2012,[1] and was allegedly stolen.[5] Fans of the feline helped to post notices alerting area people about the lost cat.[1] He was allegedly released some 20 days after. He was found 26 days later[1][6] in an alleyway and was returned to his owner. The cat had lost 3 pounds while he was away.[7] The incident was published on the front page of local Hong Kong newspapers,[8] and Brother Cream has become one of the most famous cats in Hong Kong since. A little over 2 months after the incident, the cat's Facebook page had over 26,000 "likes".[6] Additionally, Brother Cream has a partner named Sister Cream, a female, Scottish Fold cat that has black and white coloring.[3] The cat is owned by Ko Chee-shing, who is also the owner of the convenience store.[2]

Book

A book has been published by Ichiban Publishing about Brother Cream.[3] On March 30, 2013, Brother Cream was present at a book-signing event for the book at Mikiki mall in San Po Kong, in which hundreds of people showed up to see the cat.[3] As part of the event, the cat's paws were scanned and stamps were created, to act as a signature from the cat.[3] His first book, Brother Cream in East TST, had sold more than 20,000 copies by July 2013.[9] His second book was called Cream Chicken Soup.[9]

Advertising and television

Brother Cream has received coverage on television shows.[3] Due to the cat's popularity, Brother Cream attained two television advertisement contracts in 2013, for Nikon and Wing On Travel.[2] Brother Cream was also involved in the filming of a television series to be aired on Citybus,[2] one of the three major bus operators in Hong Kong.
