Ursula Hall is a catered residential hall of Australian National University. Its residents are drawn primarily from rural and regional Australia and from overseas.

History

The hall was founded as an all-female institution in 1968 by the Ursuline Order. In 1971 it became a co-educational college. In 2004, Ursula College became known as Ursula Hall.

Residents of Ursula Hall welcomes undergraduate and postgraduate students of all nationalities, religions and cultures—residents are from dozens of countries, including Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the United States.

The Ursuline Order, which previously owned and managed the hall, has been involved in education for over 450 years. The Order, which was founded in 1535 by an Italian woman called Angela Merici, has a commitment to education. Today, there are Ursuline education establishments throughout Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Australia.

Administration

Ursula Hall is administered by the Head of Residence along with the support of the Administration Manager. Each year, two senior students are appointed Community Coordinators . The Community Coordinators assist the Head of Residence in the administration of the hall, as well as administer a team of Senior Residents, Canteen, Transport & Academic scholars who are responsible for the pastoral and academic care of residents.

Ursula Residents Committee

The Ursula Residents Committee (URC) is the elected student body that represents the interest of Ursula Hall residents. The URC is responsible for organising a range of social and sporting events. The URC facilitates activities such as debating, art shows and sporting competitions. Two of the biggest events in Hall are the annual ball and play, organised by the URC. Residents of any level within the Hall have opportunity to become involved in the URC. Notable alumni of the Ursula Hall include Barry O'Farrell who was president of the URC in
