WCEC (1490 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a Spanish News/Talk format. Licensed to Haverhill, Massachusetts, USA, the station is currently owned by Costa-Eagle Radio Ventures Limited Partnership, a partnership between Pat Costa and his chief investor, The Eagle-Tribune.[1]

History

From 1947 to 2002, the 1490 frequency in Haverhill, Massachusetts, was occupied by WHAV. WHAV changed call letters to WCCM on September 23, 2002. On July 30, 2007, the station changed its call sign to the current WCEC.[2]

History of call letters

The call letters WCEC were previously assigned to an AM station (and WCEC-FM to its sister station) in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, both of which began broadcasting November 2, 1947. The stations were owned by Josh L. Horne Jr., publisher of the (Rocky Mount) Evening Telegram.[3]
