West Virginia Radio Corporation or WVRC is a media corporation comprising exclusively radio stations and two radio networks based in the state of West Virginia.

The company is controlled by Greer Industries and its owners, the Raese family.

Radio markets

West Virginia Radio Corporation owns stations in five separate areas in the state of West Virginia:

At present, the two largest markets in the state what West Virginia Radio does not presently operate are Huntington and Wheeling. West Virginia Radio was also suggested as a likely purchaser of Clear Channel Communications' Wheeling and Huntington clusters which have been for sale for some time, as Clear Channel has a corporate policy of withdrawal from smaller markets.

Ratings

Charleston's WCHS as well as Morgantown's WAJR and WVAQ are consistently the highest or near-highest rated stations in their respective markets.

West Virginia MetroNews

West Virginia Radio Corporation operates the "West Virginia MetroNews" Network, which is owned by parent company Greer Industries.

"West Virginia MetroNews" features on-the-hour news, political and sports talk programs. WVRC held the rights to West Virginia University Mountaineer sports, via the company's DBA name of "Mountaineer Sports Network" or "MSN", through the 2012-13 season. In July 2013 IMG College was awarded WVU's Tier 3 multimedia rights for 12 years, which was disputed in court by the company. The parties settled out of court for a cash payment. [1]

All news and programs from "West Virginia MetroNews" are offered to all WVRC stations and to other stations throughout the state whether they are owned by WVRC or not.
