The 2000 West Virginia gubernatorial election took place on November 7, 2000 for the post of Governor of West Virginia. Democratic Member of the United States House of Representatives Bob Wise defeated incumbent Republican Governor Cecil Underwood. Concurrently, the state voted the opposite way federally, choosing Republican U.S. Presidential nominee, George W. Bush over Democratic nominee Al Gore in the Presidential election that year.
