New Years
Buck was laying down in the grass of Bobby and Athena’s backyard. He couldn’t really see the stars since it was LA but he could make out the full moon. The New Year’s party inside the house was loud yet distant.
“What in the world are you doing?” Eddie asked as he showed up in Buck’s peripheral vision.
“Contemplating the meaning of human existence.” Buck smirked and Eddie snorted.
“Don’t hurt yourself.” Eddie teased as he laid down next to Buck.
Buck raised an eyebrow at him. Eddie barely ever did anything impulsive like laying in the grass to watch the moon. Well, he did buy a truck out of the blue but that was during his ‘phase’.
“So, what did you come up with?” Eddie turned his head to look at Buck.
“What?” Buck asked as he played with the grass between them.
“The meaning of human existence. Got an answer yet?” Eddie teased and Buck smiled.
“I think we exist just to prove that we can.” Buck shrugged and Eddie frowned.
“That’s it? Mister 'I think a ghost called 911’ doesn’t believe in cosmic destiny?” Eddie asked and Buck blinked at him.
“Cosmic destiny? Maybe I did once upon a time but after everything that has happened this year with the ladder truck, the tsunami and the lawsuit…Kinda feels like destiny wants me to suffer so I’d rather just call bullshit on the whole destiny thing.” Buck muttered and Eddie’s frown deepened.
“Did I ever tell you why I chose the 118 and not the 6?” Eddie asked and Buck turned on his side.
“I thought it was because Bobby convinced you?” Buck blinked and Eddie blushed.
“That played a small factor. But I joined the 118 because of you.” Eddie was bright red and Buck’s eyes widened.
“What?” Buck asked truly confused.
“I was driving home from my last day of certification and ended up stuck in traffic because of a bad pile up. You guys were there.” Eddie stated and Buck’s breath caught in his throat.
Eddie had never once metioned this.
“I watched you guys do your thing. Part of me wanted to help but I stayed in my car and watched. You had just helped a little girl out of a the backseat of a SUV. She must have been 3 or 4 years old. She was wailing and screaming. I had my windows up but I could still hear her wails. Most people would have passed her off to her parents right away but you held her and started making these funny faces at her. It took you all of a minute to calm her down. You kept her on your hip as you helped other victims sit down. You did your job with a 4 year old in your arms and you didn’t even seem phased by it. I remember watching you and thinking 'damn that’s a good guy.’ That’s the kinda guy I want to work with. So I memorized your truck number.” Eddie shrugged his cheeks red.
“Alice.” Buck smiled and Eddie raised a confused eyebrow.
“The little girl, her name was Alice Rose. I remember thinking it was pretty name.” Buck murmured and Eddie stared at him.
“You’re really something special, Evan Buckley.” Eddie whispered and Buck bit his lip.
“You know, when I first saw you at the station. I was jealous.” Buck muttered and Eddie laughed.
“Because of my silver star.” Eddie guessed and Buck rolled his eyes.
“No. Because you were the embodiment of human perfection.” Buck muttered and Eddie stared at him.
“What do you mean?” Eddie asked slightly breathless.
“I kinda had a moment of gay panic. I’d never been attracted to a man before and then I see you. I see this buff dude with great hair, an amazing smile and these beautiful soulful brown eyes and bam! Next thing I know, I’m having an identity crisis at 27. It threw me for a loop.” Buck whispered and Eddie froze.
“You were attracted to me?” Eddie asked in awe.
Buck bit his lip. “Are not were.” Buck blushed and Eddie swallowed.
“Were you ever going to tell me?” Eddie shuffled closer.
“I’m telling you now aren’t I?” Buck smirked as he leaned closer to Eddie.
“Are you? Kinda need to hear it, Buck.” Eddie smirked and Buck rolled his eyes at him.
“I’m attracted to you.” Buck muttered with slight annoyance and Eddie smiled.
“Is that it? Only into my good looks?” Eddie mused as he brought a hand to trail up and down Buck’s arm softly.
Buck resisted a shiver.
“Christopher is an added plus.” Buck shrugged and Eddie chuckled as he rubbed small circles into the crook of Buck’s arm.
“You’re not horrible to look at either, Buckley.” Eddie smiled and Buck scoffed.
“I’m also awesome.” Buck muttered and Eddie laughed.
“Yeah, you’re pretty awesome.” Eddie whispered lowly.
Buck blushed as he looked down at Eddie’s hand on his arm.
“It’s almost midnight.” Buck muttered and Eddie bit his lip.
“Yeah.” Eddie breathed and Buck licked his lips.
Eddie groaned as he stared at Buck’s lips.
“Play fair.” Eddie shifted even closer.
“Something wrong, Diaz.” Buck licked his lips again.
“You know I hate it when you call me that.” Eddie stared at him with hooded eyes.
“Lighten up, Eds.” Buck ran a finger over Eddie’s jawline.
Eddie closed his eyes.
“About that gay panic, where are we on t-th-that?” Eddie asked but stuttered as Buck traced Eddie’s lower lips with his thumb.
“Over it.” Buck murmured and Eddie could feel Buck’s breath of his lips.
“Good to know.” Eddie whispered before opening his eyes to the most wonderful shade of blue.
“Are we doing this?” Buck asked as the count down could be heard from the inside.
Eddie nodded slowly. “I think we are.”
7.6.5
“I might lose control.” Buck whispered eyes dilated.
4.3.2
“Good.” Eddie growled.
1.
Eddie grabbed Buck by the lapels of his coat and slammed their lips together. Buck didn’t waste anytime slipping his tongue into Eddie’s mouth. Eddie moaned as Buck licked into his mouth like a dying man starving for his last breath. Like everything else in their relationship it became a fun competition. A battle of tongues, that Eddie was happy to lose. When oxygen became a issue they pulled apart both panting heavily.
“That was cosmic.” Buck smiled and Eddie leaned his forehead against Buck’s.
“Happy New Years, Evan.” Eddie smiled and Buck snorted.
“You’re lucky I like the way you say Evan.” Buck mumbled before kissing Eddie’s nose and leaning back down to watch the moon.
