See, that’s what the app is perfect for.

Sounds perfect Wahhhh, I don’t wanna

Welcome to Intersex Support! This blog is first and foremost a blog for intersex people to look for support and community.

As a team we hope to be inclusive of all intersex people, while maintaining our own personal boundaries and respecting our limitations.

We prioritize answering asks from intersex people and people questioning if they are intersex, asks sent from perisex (people who are not intersex) may not always be answered.

While we all have different knowledge, we are not physicians and we cannot diagnose you or tell you if you are intersex or not. It is also worth stating that nothing we say about a condition is conclusive; there will be variation in everyone that we cannot always account for.

What we can do is point you in possible directions, link resources, share experience, engage in conversation, help you understand terminology, etc.

Feel free to send in asks about any and all intersex topics, including diagnosis, venting, asking for advice, positivity, activism, intersex art, and more!

Read our FAQ before sending an ask.

The discrimination Kenya (a Black intersex person) has endured is something with which Black intersex folks around the world are painfully familiar. Black intersex discrimination is both personal and systemic, and it is not nearly spoken about enough.

Rent/general housing assistance for black wlw couple?

My gf and I are drowning !!! Groceries are crazy expensive especially since we need options that accommodate our disabilities and our energy bill continues to rise DRASTICALLY even though we’ve turned our heat down, off completely in some rooms, and are often just fucking cold !! Idk what to say or do anymore !!

Closed mouths don’t get fed so I’m going to make a big ask, to cover half of our rent or our massive energy bill or Something this black history month so we can try to catch up and get our footing again, and even if we don’t hit that goal everything helps so much

I’m still heartemojie on cashapp and Venmo, and 13thead on PayPal, and I’m still writing on Substack. Thank you so much

Tips for Writing an Intersex Character with Grace

I’m an intersex person—and a novelist myself—who’s had the blessing of growing up in intersex support and activism communities. After 15 years immersed in these topics, I’ve built up a great deal of knowledge about what is and isn’t anatomically possible, politics and inter-community dynamics, which pop culture depictions go down smooth, and which leave a pit in the stomach.
-Hans Lindahl, 2022

This resource webpage serves as a very informative starting point for those who wish to involve intersex characters or intersex themes in their storytelling! To emphasize their knowledge on the topic, Hans is expecting their intersex-focused debut graphic novel, I'm Going Through Something, to release in 2027! <3

hey - "thanksgiving" is coming up in a few days. cant stop anyone for celebrating even if its a painful holiday for people like me but if you want to help a disabled /medically complex afro-indigenous person who just got housed after 10 months homeless stay housed i would really, really appreciate the help. i am not being dramatic when i say that being unhoused again will likely kill me, im fighting for my life and constantly in and out of the hospital and on iv antibiotics as is. just trying to stay alive rn honestly.

Sorry to make this post cus I understand that we're all broke and poor etc but I need 900 dollars asap to pay off loans that have been accumulating for a while. I am filing a dispute against my loan company due to their poor money management, but that can take months, and I only have weeks to get this money. So. Any amount helps.

Unfortunately I only have cashapp ($markers111) due to basically every other platform screwing me over at least once.

Despite the decent amount of notes, I still haven't received any help. Again, I apologize, but I have under two weeks now to make that money back.

Help an intersex family in Gaza!

Hi everyone. I'd like to share about a fundraiser that is very important to me. A good friend of mine is in contact with the organizers.

The Abualnaja family standing in front of a garden of sunflowers. This includes Abeer, who is wearing a graduation outfit, her parents, brothers, and youngest sister.ALT

(Described in alt).

Their story:

"Hello, my name is Abeer. I'm organizing this fundraising campaign from Belgium on behalf of my family, who currently live in Gaza.

Since October 7, all families in Gaza have been subjected to genocide. My family is one of those families that has had to flee its own home several times because of the threat of regular attacks.

After two months, my family decided to return home and take the risk of being bombed at any moment rather than stay in the street. Our 4-floor building now contains over 100 people who have fled from different parts of Gaza. We always open our hearts for our own people, but we can't do it without your help and support.

My parents, Kamal (53) and Moukaram (51), are suffering from the war because of their age and health. My brother Suliman, his wife Rawan Abualnaja and their two-year-old daughter Bisan are trying to stay strong, but it's complicated by their little daughter's enormous needs. My other siblings who are not married are Mohammed 25, Inas 22, Ibrahim 17, Abdallah 15.

My family medical condition during the war:

My father suffers from delusional disorders. He can't work or help my family financially. Mohammed and Ibrahim suffer from a chronic disease, congenital adrenal hyperplasia. It is difficult for them to obtain medication in Gaza. One of their medicines has not been available in Gaza for two years. During the war, they couldn't get their medicines because they simply didn't exist anymore. My family members are still suffering. They don't want to be potential victims. They want to escape death and live like other families on the planet.

On 01/01/2024, they attacked the local mosque and the missile failed to explode and ended up in front of my family's house. My family is in danger and the missile will explode any second.

Since then, my family has decided to be evacuated from Gaza because of the senseless attack on our city. Please help me evacuate my family to Egypt so that they can rebuild their lives in peace.

I've been in Belgium for over five years. I feel useless because I haven't been able to do much except try to help them with their daily living expenses.
That's why we created this campaign. We're raising funds to evacuate my family to Egypt, a place that offers a glimmer of hope and stability. However, the cost of the evacuation is high, hence our call for crowdfunding.

Every contribution makes a difference
The funds we raise will be used for :

- Evacuation from Gaza for both families (Rafah border crossing fees for 9 people total)
- Two months of temporary living expenses in Egypt, including food, shelter, and transportation
- Passport fees
- Food expences untill they leave Gaza

No matter how small your contribution, it can make all the difference in breaking the cycle of violence and uncertainty. By supporting our campaign, you are offering a lifeline to our families so that they can rebuild their lives, heal from their trauma and make a fresh start in a safe and secure environment. Please leave a comment and share our campaign with your friends, so we can reach more people and make a bigger impact. Together, we can make a difference!"

They are using a French platform called Papayoux Solidarite instead of GoFundMe. Abeer also has a Paypal account for non European donors.

They are currently at 33 588,78 €/ 50,000 €.

Let's see if we can get them to 34,000 today. Any donation matters, even $1 or $2 donations can add up.

We need to help them meet their goal. Intersex liberation means intersex liberation everywhere--it is so important that we show up in solidarity. Those of us living with CAH know how dangerous salt wasting crises are without medication, and how important it is to urgently help Mohammed and Ibrahim get access to the medications they need to support their CAH. Intersex solidarity means that we need to show up and support intersex people facing genocide.

If you can't donate, please share. Consider doing an art raffle to raise money. Do whatever you can to help this family because it is urgent, and we need to act in solidarity with them now and make sure that the intersex community is here to support them!

On this intersex awareness day, I challenge you to learn some intersex history!

For instance, do you know the reason why intersex awareness day is October 26th?

The first public demonstration in America about intersex issues was in Boston, October 26, 1996. Morgan Holmes and Max Beck were planning to give an address about the detrimental effects of nonconsensual intersex surgery at the annual American Academy of Pediatrics, but were not allowed to speak. As a result, they demonstrated outside the conference along with allies from Transsexual Menace.

Intersex Awareness day started in 2003, and is stronger than ever 16 years later!

Happy Intersex Awareness Day to all!

If this week has proven anything, it's that the ambition of intersex people and our allies to live in a world of justice continues to grow. If you saw a moment of intersex visibility and dreaming that helped you feel hopeful, hang onto that tightly. We are proud to exist in a community committed to supporting each other's bright futures.

Read on to hear from Youth member Sam Sharpe, with a dive into history—both the community's past and their own—and why intersex futures can never be erased.

Happy intersex awareness day!

Intersex awareness day is really special to me--for years it felt like October 26th was the only time I ever saw intersex mentioned, and it became a really meaningful time to look forward to every year. Even now, when I have a lot more intersex community in my life, it's powerful to celebrate our activism, solidarity, and joy.

One of my favorite moments of intersex joy this year was going on a retreat with other intersex people and just feeling more seen and known then I ever had in my life, and learning all the beautiful ways we're celebrating our intersex lives all over the country. Another moment of intersex joy was successfully defending my thesis on intersex and disability topics, and being able to really start building that solidarity and connections.

What brought you intersex joy this year, whether it's big moments or small? What's your favorite part of intersex community? How do you celebrate intersex identity?

feel free to add on in the reblogs 💜💜💜

This year I became part of a wonderful community of people who helped me accept, de-medicalize, and learn about my body; I bought myself a full-size pride flag, and I made some intersex-themed art for myself. I recently painted a self portrait to celebrate my pride in the intersection of my disabilities and my variations, it helped me find beauty and confidence in my own body, and I couldn’t have gotten to this point without the support of my fellow intersex people.

The intersex community is so intersectional and compassionate—despite all the trauma so many of us have experienced, we are resilient and we fight for justice and joy. Our movement is truly revolutionary, from making enormous strides for liberation to providing support for one another to sharing the beauty of who we are.

thank you for sharing 💜💜💜

more intersex history to celebrate intersex awareness day!

Herculine Barbin, (November 8, 1838– February 1868), was a French intersex person who wrote a memoir titled Herculine Barbin. She was raised as a girl in a convent, and reportedly had her first relationship with another girl at age 14. In 1857, she fell in love with another teacher at the girls school where she worked, and the two of them became lovers. Shortly after, she was examined by a doctor who pronounced her legally male, and she was forced by the court to change her name and wear male clothes. She eventually left her lover and ended up living in poverty, when she wrote the memoir, reportedly as part of therapy. She continued to refer to herself with she/her pronouns and identified herself as a girl in her writings. In 1868, Herculine died by suicide.

Her memoirs are some of the only pre 20th century writing we have by intersex people, and are an incredibly valuable look into what the lives of intersex people were like in the past.

And now, her birthday, November 8th, is Intersex Day of Remembrance in what seems a fitting tribute for someone who history would rather we forget.
