Henri Hagelberg on Instagram: "How does it turn out? 🎨

Join me in creating 'Coarse Dots', a rougher, more wabi sabi, version of my classic coloured Dots textured art series. How do you think it turned out? 🙌

Contrary to the other 'Dots' paintings, this one has less textured and thus more emphasis on the background. I made the background with several layers of acrylic, and added some extra interest with a little sgraffito.

The actual textured elements were lightly coloured, and I used silica sand to add a little extra coarseness to the paste.

As always, feel free to ask if you have questions about textured art. 🙏 I've also recently updated my profile a bit, so make sure to have a lool at my bio & the link in it for some news. 😊

When you mist water while using a high grit sandpaper (400-600), it turns into a lubricant, reactivating the paint, removing any rough surfaces giving the smoothest ultimate finish, it’s less abrasive than dry sanding.

For this process I used with a 6″ x 3/8″ nap Premium Microfiber roller. I rolled on my first coat of primer, I used BIN Shellac Primer, then after it dried I wet sanded all the pieces.

Why didn’t I sand during painting? I started to, but painting a dark color on white, even the finest grit was removing too much paint Sand Furniture, Sand Paint Color, Sand Blasting, Wet Sand, Dry Sand, Sand Painting, Paint Strokes, Paint Remover, Dark Color

Marina Savashynskaya Dunbar on Instagram: "My process starts with mixing large batches of water-based acrylic paints, which I like for their versatility, low toxicity, and quick drying time. I use a variety of materials including spray paint, airbrushes, and sometimes melamine sponges for subtractive techniques. Sand is also a key material in my work, adding a dense, textured element that contrasts with the ethereal quality of the paint. I often manipulate the consistency of sand to achieve either a thick, sculptural effect or a thinner, more fluid application. Each material I choose plays a role in how the composition evolves, adding depth and complexity to the layers."
