A ventilator is a machine that takes over the functions of breathing for patients who cannot breathe on their own.

The ventilator is connected to a tube inserted into the patient’s trachea to manually ventilate for them.

→ Ventilator: Uses positive pressure to PUSH air into the lungs
→ Normal Breathing: Uses negative pressure to PULL (inhale) air into the lungs

⭐️ Ventilator Settings Basics:

1️⃣ Tidal Volume:
→ Volume of air delivered with each breath

2️⃣ FiO2 (Fraction of Inspired Oxygen):
→Oxygen concentration of air being delivered

3️⃣ PEEP (Positive End Expiratory Pressure):
→ Pressure maintained at the end of each exhalation
