Harsh light! “Hyper” fashion portraits📸✨ 90s music magazines have this particular “bite” I love. My go-to is a strong key light on the face, with a big black panel (“negative fill”) on the other side to suck up light and create the harsh shadows (anime vibe). I tend to photograph from way up high (wide angle lens), crank EVERYTHING in post, dial back a few to the sweet spot, then tweak the white balance like I’m coloring. The first time I shot in this style was accidental to be honest. I'd love to say it was an artistic epiphany but sadly the truth of the matter is that I was too darn lazy to close the windows.
