Resh Gala | Organic Gardener on Instagram: "TIPS TO PROPAGATE ROSEMARY PLANTS:👇

🪴Multiply rosemary plants for free by taking cuttings of healthy, tender stems and propagating them in organic potting soil.

🪴Avoid using old, hard, brown and woody rosemary stems as those are more difficult to propagate.

🪴Dipping the end of the stem in rooting powder/ hormone is optional but can help speed up the process. Cinnamon or honey are great organic alternatives to rooting hormone.

🪴Be sure to strip off few lower leaves before sticking the stem in soil.

🪴To facilitate propagation, you can cover the top of your pot with a clear plastic bag to trap in some moisture/ humidity.

Fall is a great time to propagate and multiply your herbs, to grow them indoors all winter long.

• Choose young shoots that aren’t flowering and are 6-8 inches long.
• Remove the bottom half of the leaves and root in water.
• Change the water every few days to keep the environment oxygenated and prevent rotting.
• After a few weeks, you should notice root hairs forming in the water.
• Pot up the rooted cuttings when several roots are an inch or more long.

It’s an exciting process and fun to grow new plants!
