Native to western China, Rosa moyesii, commonly known as Mandarin Rose or Moyes Rose, is a healthy and robust Rose that can be relied on to provide interest and color. Parent to many shrub roses, this is a vigorous, deciduous shrub with an attractive spreading arching habit. It is covered with a plentiful array of remarkable, wine-red flowers, up to 3 in. This rose, originating from West China, eventually grows into a huge bush, up to 4 meters high, with arching canes. It only flowers once and for a short time, but the unique vibrant red of its single blooms amply makes up for this deficiency. In the autumn it sets bright orange flagon-like hips. 'Geranium' is a selection of the species. Unfortunately, for reasons unknown to us, it doesn't do well in our garden.
