What is Clown Jam?

Clown Jam is a game jam for games that are clown-themed or have clowns in them. Any game that has a clown character as either the main character or a character that has an impact on the story is allowed to be submitted.

The jam was created to celebrate clowns and encourage people's creativity with them.

The jam has a theme, but you really don’t have to stick to it. We’ll accept submissions that don’t fit the theme; it’s just there for anyone who wants a little extra challenge or is looking for inspiration. We’ll share the theme at the start of the jam!

The jam theme is....*drum rolls*

MIRRORS!

Thank you so much to everyone who sent themes! I can't wait to see y'all's projects!

Happy jamming!

RULES:

This jam is all about multimedia creativity! Whether it's games, comics, zines, music, or even videos—anything goes! The only rule? It’s gotta feature clowns or be clown-themed.

  1.  Your submission must feature at least one clown as a main character.
  2.  Any submission, regardless of size or complexity, created in a publishable engine (including tabletop/analog) is welcome.
  3.  Submission must be new; sequels or unfinished projects can qualify if they present new content.
  4.  Development can start before the jam begins, including asset creation and coding. Reviving old concepts is permitted.
  5.  You may work solo or in teams, but maintain a manageable scope to keep it low stress.
  6.  Demos and incomplete games are acceptable; updates can occur post jam.
  7.  All assets must be original or properly licensed; no AI generated content is allowed.
  8.  Submissions promoting bigotry or discrimination will be rejected.
  9.  NSFW content is allowed if appropriately tagged and featuring characters aged 18 or older.
  10.  Unfinished or multipart releases and spinoffs are permitted.
  11.  Fan projects are permitted if all assets are original and do not infringe on the original copyright.
  12. You can submit multiple entries.
  13. The submission must be free to download during Jam time; afterward, you may set a price.
