Thanks a lot! Besides the creating the art, one of the things I enjoy the most about game jams is just taking the theme and trying to just let my brain go and see what happens. Honestly I think a spinoff about Brother Jimbo would be pretty funny! I think I would have to make a better non-rushed version of this game first though, to set things up more clearly. And for the keystone abilities, it didn't exactly turn out this way but I kind of wanted the player to be able to do a specific area's ability for free in that area, but after getting the gem you get the ability to use it in the the other areas. That turned out to be more complicated than I could really do for this jam, but I actually think it would make for some interesting puzzles.

Ahaha I had so much fun thinking of what all the NPCs would say. They have their basic needs met like food and water but each type of creature can't live their lives to the fullest. I really appreciate your comments! :) I've been trying to think about ideas for what I'm going to do next...

Thanks for playing it! And thanks for letting me know about those bugs, especially the double jump one, I hadn't encountered that before. You never know something can go wrong until it does!

That footstep bug made me so mad! I couldn't replicate it in testing, so I tried to implement a fix but clearly it didn't work. It's gotta be something about the sounds playing as you transition between the rooms, but sometimes it happened to me and other times I could run through the whole game with no problems. Thanks for playing though, I appreciate it!

lol me too, I feel ya

Thanks so much for playing! I always learn a lot from doing these jams, so your feedback is really valuable!

Well I think you pulled it off :)

Alright, I finished playing all the games in the jam, and this was my favorite story! I had a lot of fun playing this, even when I didn't really understand what was happening in the battle sections at first. I think I figured it out by the end though, although there were some close calls! I chose the Technorganic dream at the end, I hope it works out for them! Great job!

This was really cool! I loved exploring the aesthetics of the world you've created here. The art, music and sound are.. mwah! perfecto! I thought it was really interesting that the enemies don't damage you but just drag you down, which makes a lot of sense when you don't have much time to spare! Awesome job!

This is so fun! I really like the story and the art is amazing! I love the way the player's robot "hair" moves as you run, and the scenery and backgrounds look so good. I'm finding it a little difficult to collect enough crystals to be able to proceed through the gates in the second area. I think I've found most of the crystal pickups (unless I've missed some, which is possible), but the enemies don't drop very many to supplement that, and sometimes the enemy drops end up inside the floor and I can't pick them up. But besides that it's very fun: it feels really good to explore the levels and the music is so good! Great job!

I don't even care that there aren't any enemies, the player character design is great and it's so fun to explore with that music going on! Also ping-ponging around with the dash is a really interesting mechanic. Awesome job!

Lol I loved the walrus meeting. Fantastic job! I really liked the drop ability, it's amazing what control that simple move gives you. Some of my favorite mechanics in the jam!

Great art and sound design, everything looks so good!

The bugs are so cute! I really loved the music and it's so fun to explore such a bright environment, great job!

Eyyy I made it to the spaceship! Good job, that was a lot of fun. Since my progress didn't reset when I died, I didn't mind slipping and sliding all over the place and I was able to focus on getting better. I really liked the music, it was fun to listen to over and over again and I liked the way it changes. The spaceship sprite at the end looks really good! The only thing I would change is I didn't know when going down a hole would take me to another room or to my death, so I had to beef it a few times to figure it out. Great job!

The little walking and reload animations are super cute! It gets too dark during the night cycle.

This was awesome! Short and sweet, really good minimal design with fun puzzles! (I got all 3 keys) At first I was skeptical about only going left, but the obstacles were really cleverly set up. Having the player square change colors was nice too. This game is kind of like the perfect slider: it captures all the essence of a full hamburger but you don't always want to eat a whole hamburger. Great job!

Art and music are out of this world! I think it's possible to get stuck right after you get the slide if you go to the right and down into the room with two frogs, if that's the only ability you have you can't jump out again. I just restarted so not a big deal. This is quite a difficult game. Sometimes I would clear a room and enter the next, and then the knockback from an attack or taking damage would push me back into the previous room to be surrounded by newly respawned enemies and they would mob me to death. The knockback is also tricky in the parts with moving platforms over spikes, the flying pigs treated me as their volley ball and literally spiked me lol. Great job!

I couldn't get very far because the game kept crashing after the first set of crumbling platforms for me. But what I saw, I loved! Wow the art is fantastic and the actions feel so good! I especially love the hanging lanterns, the particle effects look SO good and I love the way they interact when the player jumps through them. Great job!

Haha that's awesome, I didn't know that about glowing platypuses! Honestly is there anything a platypus can't do? XD

So, fantastic job, the artwork, music, and game design are on another level! I didn't have a problem with the gravity, I thought it felt true to a cool little platypus jumping around. Which by the way how do you even think of that? Very cool.

Although not what my hands are used to, I didn't have a problem with the controls until the cat boss when I had to do multiple things at the same time in an unfamiliar schema, so my brain started to take issue lol. I'm sure everyone has their own opinion, but for me I would have preferred wasd movement, jump on space, and teleport on L shift, with the attacks on right handed inputs: either LMB for attack and RMB for shoot, or keys like J/K/L.

But that's honestly still pretty minor in the scheme of things. The teleport is actually really interesting, it adds a whole new dimension of movement that we take for granted so often. If not over, then through! Awesome job, I really enjoyed this a lot!

This game is an inspiration. Very balanced level design with all the enemies and checkpoints pretty fairly distributed throughout. The tongue attack is so satisfying!

I thought the story was very cool and the character design was really well done, especially the whip animation. Cool music too! There were a lot of enemies to fight, which is fine, but I think the respawn rate was a bit high and it kind of got in the way of the exploration for me. I would clear an area only to walk back a second later and all the enemies were back and coming for me again. And when I died and returned to the checkpoint it was surrounded by enemies that immediately mobbed me haha. I enjoyed playing, great job!

I really love the art in this! The bloom effect on the enemies is very cool!

Thanks for playing and the great feedback! I agree the art and animation could be more polished, unless something really wasn’t working I pretty much had to accept “good enough” and move on to the next task. I’m always learning!

Thanks for playing and leaving this great feedback! I wanted an intro that faded between the images but I was having issues, so the slideshow was my “make it work NOW!” solution. I’m curious about the keybinds that were difficult for you? I’m totally fine with the player remapping them in general, I just wasn’t able to add that here

Man I loved this game, the mechanics are well done and the puzzles use them so well! I like the story too, and the ambient music is a really good fit. The draw/erase mechanic is so cool! I felt like I was playing Zelda puzzles so great job! The tower puzzle at the end reminded me of some of the tower puzzles in Outer Wilds, I don't know how you planned that out but it was really fun!

Two places where I had a little bit of trouble: 1) you can get stuck in the bottom room in the castle if you don't have the jump yet because the ramp doesn't quite touch the ground so you can't roll back up it. I just restarted because it didn't take long to get there so no big deal. 2) While ceiling clinging my way up the outside of the castle I fell off into the space between the castle and castle wall, but to get back in I had to go all the way back out, change the text, come all the way back in, and change the text back again. It's not that big of a deal, but since I already had the ceiling cling ability at that I point I wished I could have used that to get back in faster. Just my opinion, this game was a blast!

Good job on this! I really liked the art (especially the cobblestone background, very cool) and it was fun to explore the level! I had a slight issue with jumping over some boxes: if there is a stack of two boxes in front of you, I could jump over it if there was a blue box on top, but not if there was a red box on top. I'm not sure if I'm imagining it, or maybe the collider on the red box is a little bit larger? I still enjoyed it! :)

Good job! I really liked the art and the character handled really well when running, jumping and dashing. I felt like I had a lot of control. I had to reset a couple times after falling in holes that I couldn't escape from, so I'm glad you put that on the R button! I liked the use of the rails, I think I'll try to use that in future games :)

bravo!

This was fun! I really enjoyed the story and the exploration. Haha it took me forever to find the router room because I kept looking for "N1" instead of "M1" whoops :P Thank you so much for making a game where I don't have to jump across moving platforms that either drop me to my death in spikes, or cause me to fall 10 stories and do it all over again, it gets old. Have you seen the show Severance? I think the floors you've created here give a really similar atmosphere to the ones in that show. Great job!

The background art is gorgeous! I love all the main character's animations, that must have taken a long time. It's cool how the footsteps change depending on your elemental form as well. I really liked the depth of the story, it really feels like the start of a big game. I don't really have anything negative to say, but there was a room in the first area with a gate where you had to kill 3 enemies to open it, but I ran around forever thinking you needed to find 3 switches to open it instead. I figured it out eventually, but I had been jumping over enemies mostly to avoid them so I didn't know they also controlled gates. This is a true testament to what a great team can accomplish!

Thanks for playing! I'll address your points in the order you mentioned them. This game is the way it is because I only had about an hour a day to work on it, and this was my first time using the Corgi engine libraries so I didn't have the experience to troubleshoot a lot of things.

Combat: You stand still when attacking because I didn't make an "attack while running animation" and it looked bad to move while the sprite stands still. I wanted the enemies to be easy so people can complete it in a reasonable time and play more jam games. The stun or knockback is good idea!

Abilities: I actually didn't know you could dash in all directions! I always just went left or right haha. I made the movement abilities buyable to differentiate them from the color abilities you had to collect and to have a reason to collect crystals, but then I had to nerf the color abilities into essentially switches because of the time, which seems like the wrong decision in hindsight.

Sorry about the sound, I had other tracks I wanted to play but it's my inexperience with the Sound Manager. I know about the footsteps bug but I'm not sure why it happens, I couldn't consistently replicate it in testing. I thought it might happen on room transition, so I made it stop all sounds when you enter the room, and I thought that solved it, but apparently not. I actually spent hours trying to solve these but I guess in the end it would have been better to have no footsteps or bgm.

Thanks for playing it anyway!

I’ll try to give it another shot later

I love this minimalistic style and all the bunnies! I really feel the essence of metroidvania lol

That cat is brutal though, he goes too fast around this corner in the 3rd room and I just can't stay ahead. I only have the long jump at the moment now though, should I keep exploring for more abilities? I thought I explored everywhere I could but I might have missed it.

I really like the story and the art, you were really able to give basic shapes very unique characters!  The intro really sets the story, and the music is a great fit. Great job!

Since you are always bouncing it is very difficult to control your jumps on moving platforms, and when you miss and fall all the way to the bottom it can be very frustrating... Also, it feels very punishing to have to pay money just to save and equip abilities, especially when you lose all your money on death. The first shop is located after the first flower, so I spent money to save, then bought an item, but I didn't have enough money to equip it. It was often a better idea to reload my game every time I died so at least I would have some money.

Finally, I couldn't progress in this room because I broke the blocks the first time to reach the moving platform, but then I missing the jump and fell back down. Now the gaps are too far to jump and I just die in the spikes. Is this intentional?

Awesome! Sorry to hear about your elbow!

No problem! I won't go there :)

Very cool!

Room I'm stuck in?
