Thanks for playing of and sharing your thoughts, I'm glad you had fun and liked the chess spin on tactical RPG combat! I took some extra time making sure the difficulty is fair with a nice progression, so it's great to hear that you found it adequate. I'll keep in mind to make the resume option stand out more, that could have been bad.

Really appreciate your kind words, and I’m thrilled you had fun playing!

Thanks a lot for playing and for wanting to showcase my game! 🙂 Unfortunately, it seems there was an issue with your capture software,  the screen was frozen for the whole 3 minutes, so there is nothing to look at. Thanks for checking it out, though!

It's a 50% chance, but the chicken is nicer during boss battles 🙂

Thanks a lot! I watched your whole playthrough, it meant a lot to see you backtrack after the bad ending to get the missing notes. It was also invaluable to understand what is intuitive enough and what isn't (I should have made it way clearer that you can attack without moving, and that your pieces can equip different weapons).

I'm glad you enjoyed the game!

I managed to escape with Bob the chicken under my arm. I had a lot of fun trying to escape, and your game provided a healthy dose of fair challenge (I played in Normal difficulty). Just like last year, I really love your control scheme, it's very intuitive and fluid without the mouse.

The combat system is really cool and feels fast paced (especially considering it's a turn based tactical battle system), I never thought that a battle took too long. It's extremely satisfying to have the enemies perfectly grouped and drop a grenade.

And as others said before, that pixel art is gorgeous! This shade of blue pops in a very eye-pleasing way to me.

I had a bit of trouble not losing my way once or twice because of how uniform the walls look, but nothing major.

All in all, very solid and fun!

So much 'tude! It's an amazing amount of polish for such a ridiculously short time frame. I particularly love all the poses of the chicken hacker. I thought the combat took a little bit too long sometimes with the enemies having 30 hp, but I should have tried ambushing them more instead of just trying to avoid them altogether. That's my only nitpicking, I had a lot of fun playing your game.

Cool visuals! I really like the slither effect on the walls and floor, it makes the dungeon look alive as if data was constantly flowing through the walls. The gameplay loop is satisfying and the decisions on how to manage your cash are fun. Sometimes, while facing what looked like an open path, I couldn't move forward either.

Besides that, it's intuitive and fun. Good job!

The golden egg is mine! I had some trouble with orientation and got lost a couple of times, but I really like that the enemies respawned and gave me something to fight while I was looking for keys (I was level 20 when I found the golden egg, a real powerhouse). I had a lot of fun, I really like the simplicity of the gameplay and growing stronger and stronger until no one stood a chance... pure joy! This is the kind of fast, instant fun that I enjoy a lot.

I'm glad you could push an update, it seems like you put a lot of work into your game.  The illustrations are gorgeous, so are the dungeon textures. The atmosphere is spot on!

Is there more than 1 floor? I got stuck after killing two spiders and getter 3 runes from the chicken. The minimap seemed complete, and the only door I saw wouldn't open. The combat system has a lot of potential, but during my playthrough I rarely had a worthy combination and did little to no damage most of the time. I saw that you can lock some runes and redraw, but the option didn't always appear. And since the spiders could heal themselves, one fight took around 10 minutes to complete.  At the end, I pressed escaped and clicked the "No" button to not quit the game, but it still quit, which made me lose progress.

Other than that, I found your game very polished and visually impressive, big fan of the art! And I think that with a bit of balancing, you're on to something with that battle system. I love how you integrated chicken into the plot and gameplay, too!

No, I think the explanations were clear and the timing was just forgiving enough 🙂 I liked the audio indication when you got the runes and timing right, too. I really enjoyed the combat system, on a longer game it could be expanded to include more spells with status effects for additional tactical options!

It sure is short, but I love what is there, it's really polished and brimming with personality. With that kind of humor and that cool pixel art style, I was curious to see what would happen next, and would have played for much longer. If you intend on expanding your game, I'll gladly check it out again!

I retired with £650, having died for being  a little bit too ambitious in the last two stories. I really like how you set the difficulty in advance by adjusting the parameters of your adventure. The 90's vibe is definitely there, and your sprites look positively amazing! I would have played for much longer 🙂

This sounds like an interesting idea, and from what I see on the title screen, the visuals look great, but the Play and the Quit button don't seem to work ☹️

Hi, I don't know if it's a false positive on my side, but I got a malware alert while trying to extract your game's files:
You should check your PC.

I love the visuals and sound design, I had a lot of fun tapping my foot in rhythm with the clucks to get the timing right!  Great job on the fighting system, I was smiling all along. At first I thought I just needed to not become the farmer's next lunch, but I realized the stakes were much higher once I lost and then won the game.

Wow, thanks! That's the kind of atmosphere I was going for. I have a lot of nostalgy for the 90's to early 2000's Megaten games, Soul Hackers was my favorite 🙂

Thank you! The inspiration came that time when I went to the bathroom with my phone while trying to think of an idea for the theme 😁

The art is very impressive, it's all so fluid it's almost hypnotic to look at! I love the music, it sets the atmosphere perfectly. Great job!

This is the closest I managed :

Thanks for your kind words! Having spent a lot time on the assets and sound design, I barely had enough time to add an intro screen and had to settle for a simple fade to black for the end of the game. I could have gone over 3 hours but I try to strictly stay under that limit. You're right though, some lore at the end would have been nice!

Thanks! This is actually my voice, I made every asset in the game myself, except for the fart noises 🤡

That was a lot of fun! I love the telegraphed attacks and how "fluid" the whole experience. Great bathroom boss!

I kinda like the 90's powerpoint aesthetics! For something hastily thrown together, it's actually a fun minigame with a lot happening at once, which I love. Nice work!

Interesting take on the fishing minigame! I love the mechanics, it's way more engaging than pressing a button to cast and then to reel. Great job on the sound effects, too!

I'm an excellent bathroom boss! I really enjoy this kind of laid back gaming experience. Love the humor, presentation, and sound effects. It's all very cohesive and fits the theme perfectly, great work!

Oops! Between all the stuff I had to do this weekend and the limited time I had, I actually forgot to implement a win screen 😅

But thanks for your kind words, I'm glad I managed to convey the game's atmosphere to you!

Brilliant, now that's what I call playing as the enemy! I had a ton of fun ruining all these people perfectly fine lunches 😁 Great job on the theme, it made me smile and I had a great time!

Great idea, I really like what you did for the visuals and sound effects! It really felt like being a puny slime fighting for dear life against unprovoked heroes :)

Nice little puzzle game! I spent some time trying to visually detect which king is the original before understanding you don't know which one is the real one by design. Solving the puzzles was fun, great job in such a short time!

I played this for longer that I would like to admit and accumulated over 33 million souls before conquering the world. I like that it can be completed very quickly but I had fun taking my time and raising some of these numbers. There's a lot of nice polish here and there, the buttons felt satisfying to click and I enjoyed the humor in the descriptions. Great job!

Nice! I actually had the same idea as you but with pacman, but I dropped it because pathfinding on the engine I use is a bit iffy.  I liked how you can manipulate the ai by changing targets to slowly corner the poor guy and finish the job 3 on 1. That was fun, great job!

Congrats for staying under the 3hrs limit! The gameplay really kept me on my toes since you really have to plan exactly how to move when the clones start to  accumulate. Great work!

I liked the concept too, it feels like it would be a great tool to learn how to type!

This was very enjoyable! It reminds me of PETSCII topdown games like Ultima. I enjoyed exploring the maps a lot (and going out of bounds too). Great job!

Imagination really is the best graphics engine! Your game is odd, just like smiling after sacrificing your head, but I mean that in the best sense.  Great atmosphere, I had fun optimizing my own disassembly!

Thank you, glad you liked it 😁 I came up with the flappy bird-style controls to make it harder to fly when you hoard too much money, but the hitboxes are a bit too big, so some hits do feel a bit unfair!

Wow, this is impressive for the timeframe! I'm really into card games, so I had a great time with your game. This is a perfect idea for the theme and it's all very cohesive, you really nailed the atmosphere! I made $6000 before realizing I could buy and sell life.  Great job!
