Wow thank you!!!

Yeah we only had time to sort of flesh out two of the four islands, but glad to hear you enjoyed our game.

We have been working on it and have added (so far):

  • character customization
  • clothes
  • more crops
  • quests (to assist with learning the game + things to do)
  • more critters

We may post an update for it sometime, or perhaps enter it into the continuation jam? I thought I read about that somewhere but not sure. Anyways, thank you for hosting the jam and for the high praise!

Thank you! Happy to hear you enjoyed it.

That's a fair point about petting. It actually speeds up their growth so they will evolve faster. It definitely could use a more obvious indication of this. (Feeding also reduces the growth time)

Edit: Oh, and the first pet you give to a dragon will insta-grow the youngest of your in-progress crops. This also is a hidden feature that needs some sort of indicator somewhere haha. Once a dragon evolves, the petting counter is reset so the first pet on the evolved form will grow another crop.

Thank you for the feedback! We are continuing to work on this project (for now) and I will make a note to include key re-mapping for future players.

I love the artwork, it's super cute! The story was entertaining as well but I wish there was more!

There was a very minor thing I noticed where the text went below the screen so I couldn't read it once or twice (was playing in browser, non-fullscreen).

Yeah there isn't a ton of stuff to do, sorry! Glad you enjoyed the aesthetic which was one of our main goals to create a cozy style game. We were hoping to have a bit more content but wasn't able to get there haha.

Thanks for playing!

I really enjoyed and was impressed with the cutscenes, they were well animated and fun to watch! The artstyle is also consistent and everything worked well together. The final boss fight on top of the trains was fun!

I liked the idea of the different camera angles on the train in the beginning area, but they made it difficult to navigate. It was hard to tell which direction I was going when it would swap suddenly and be facing the opposite way. The story text was way too small. I also had a difficult time with aiming the magic wand and wished there was a crosshair.

Great work!

I know it may appear that the frog's collider is hitting the top of the grass, but the collider is actually at the feet of the character like you suggested it should be. The issue is that I had placed the collider for the map too low and just forgot to make adjustments once the final background art was in place.

We loved watching you play through our game, thank you!!

Apologies for the issues, but glad you liked it! Thanks!

That's actually an issue that I was unable to fix in time, but I'm glad you liked it for the most part! Thanks!

I agree that there could have been a bit more in terms of combat. Thank you for playing!

Thank you very much!

Yeah, with this type of platforming where you are required to make precise jumps it can be more challenging when the character needs to build up their velocity. It isn't always a bad thing though if it's intended to be that way, there are plenty of platformers that are similar, if not more extreme than yours.

The jumping did feel a little off though, maybe that mattered more than the character's speed. With a variable jump height like you have, I prefer to be able to make super tiny "hops" when i just quickly tap the key. Instead, your character jumps about 1.5 - 2 tiles high with a short tap of the key.

This is all just my opinions of course! You still did really well! I hope this helps and doesn't just come across as me being really nitpicky about it haha.

Edit: Of course I say that about your jumping, and then go back and play some of my own older platformers that have the same problem... ahahaha!

The art is great and really liked how the ending is affected by which path you take through the level. I wasn't a fan of the locked camera at first, preventing me from backtracking as I progressed. It made sense once I got to the end the first time, as I could see it may mess with the resulting story.

I really like all the small details in this one, like how you keep your sword out after attacking before you move again and the extra idle animations for both sheathed and unsheathed sword. Great work overall on all of the art!

Loved the music transition effects, really cool!

The platforming felt a little squishy and made it difficult to jump around the spiked objects. The invincibility length after being hit also felt a tiny bit too short with such a small amount of total health. Since the level isn't too long it felt like a good spot for the difficulty though.

All in all a great entry that felt very polished. Nice work!!

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

Don't worry it isn't just you, as there isn't much depth to the combat. I did want to improve the AI a bit and possibly have one or two more attacks, but ran out of time / steam haha. Thank you for playing!

Thanks!

Those are cool ideas. Yeah there was a lot of things we learned as this is our first attempt at a beat-em-up style game, so there are many things we could improve upon. Thank you for playing and the feedback!

Thank you! It's our first beat-em-up style game so there are many improvements that could be made, we appreciate the feedback.

Thanks, glad you liked it!

Thank you for playing and providing your feedback!

Thank you! JammyDoodles did both the art and voice acting.

Yeah getting knocked back into the pizza did happen a few times during playtesting, I just never bothered to move it haha. Thank you for your feedback and kind review!

I agree on the coolness, and it was easier than I thought to implement! Thank you!

Thanks! The book was one of the first things I added as a test to see if I could get it working, and you already saw the result! Glad you liked it.

Thank you, glad you had fun!

Thanks!! It is our first time in this specific game jam, not the first game hehe. It's my third game jam using Godot!

Yes the pages also took some time to load occasionally for me as well in the web version. Thank you, glad you enjoyed it!

I didn't even think about that happening, thank you for your feedback!

Thank you!

The book used two SubViewport nodes, one for the static part of the book and the other for the animated page. It was just a matter of setting up the book's UVs to display one of the two viewports at specific parts of the scene transitions. This way we can just display an entirely 2D scene on a 3D object!

Thank you for your feedback!

"Hey, it's me, Dracula."

This is a cool idea and you pulled it off pretty well! I really enjoyed reading all of the interests of the characters. That's cool that nobody is mean to Daniel about being a werewolf. Seems like a nice place to live.

My happiness score was 45% in the end. I'll take it!

Great job!

Edit: oops, I usually try to point out things that I had trouble with and forgot! I couldn't walk through the door with some characters, are they meant to be stuck in the rooms? That's all I really have to say about this game. Being able to control them all was cool.

Oh no worries, I just meant that I usually don't read the itch page unless I can't figure things out in the game itself. I like to see if the game can stand on its own without external directions!

After playing this game, I am now convinced that sasquatch spends his days in the forest trying to keep his collection of rubber balls away from his yeti neighbors.

Thank you! The uppercut can be useful if you get surrounded, but you are correct that just mashing punch is the key to success. I am new at creating a beat-em-up style game, so there is much improvement to be had. I appreciate the feedback!

Thanks! Glad you had fun!

Pretty neat little building game! As another has noted, the framerate drops when placing the towers (I played on web). A cool idea and really liked the fence construction.

Though the world is fairly small, I enjoyed exploring it and interacting with the characters. There was a bug I noticed with the card game where you can just select each card twice and it counts as being a match. They also gave me the money twice because I played the card game twice, but money is money!

The world can always use more frog games.

Incredible artwork!! I really liked the story and multiple endings as well. I did not notice anything wrong with the writing either.

Excellent work!

Thanks!! JammyDoodles really knocked the artwork out of the park on this one.
