Flowers & Frogs

When my brother moved last year i inherited his late wife's orchids. Orchids & i usually don't get along but so far i've manged to keep them alive. :)

One i had to repot & crossed fingers when doing so(that it would survive) i recently noticed buds on it. It has bloomed into a lovely white flower.

Another orchid is hanging under the kitchen window & as i was walking inside a week or so ago i noticed a splash of colour. Stepped back out & discovered it also was ready to bloom which it did the next day into lovely mauve flowers.
And now the frog. Went to go into the bathroom last night & before i turned on the light i noticed something on the loo seat. Hmm did i drop something earlier on ? Umm no it was a rather lovely looking green tree frog chilling out on the lid. :)
Bloody heck frog best get you out before the cats find you. Fortunately he was very cooperative & i could get him outside quick smart where upon being set free he climbed up the hanging plants pole to the orchids & pots i have there. I've no idea how he got inside & hopefully he'll stay out.

Chookshed Stitchers Challenge for April is.....

For me that is a needlecase i started many years ago. :) All that i did was the paper pieced parts

Since that is just a small project i have added 3 other small projects which i paper pieced  & embroidered last month.

Mellow Yellow....

.... is the March colour for RSC.

buttons,
potato chip block. I thought the yellow with purple flowers was the last tiny bit of that fabric but when i was pulling out fabrics for the kites i found a wee bit more. Not much left now. :(
and the kites. The mouse fabric is from a quillow i made my youngest daughter when she was tiny. Time to use it up i think as she is now 23. :)

FNwF March

I was rather slack for FNwF. To concerned about that cyclone. I'm hoping that the winds won't affect me to greatly. Well i've prepared as best i could.

All i did last night was work on this little stitchery. It was mostly done, just a little of the red to be stitched & then onto the green.

Chookshed Stitchers Challenge For March........

...... is number 2. For me that is to finish of the blocks from RSC 2024.

The cracker box blocks i did finish the needed ones a while back so they just need to be sewn together

The baskets & circles i still have to make some up. I think another 6 is needed for each set.
Hopefully i'll have 3 quilt tops by end of March. :)

Chookshed Stitchers Challenge update.

Number 10 for me was kits & small ufos. I started with some kits

These 2 are from the same kit, scissors are to show how tiny the bauble is.

The stocking nearly ended up in the naughty corner but i persevered to finish it. :)

Next up the small ufo's
this was actually from a bag but although patterns by the designer are lovely she really didn't write patterns all that well. As i had troubles with it out went the pattern & the little cat into a hanging. The pieced border is from last months challenge that didn't end up working out.
Christmas project from Hugs N Kisses from 2023.
Christmas stitchery from Hatched & Patched

these 2 were finished many years ago but i didn't like the patterns so i pulled them apart They've been waiting for quite a few years to be turned into something else.. The snowman was a cushion cover but is now a mat. The stitcheries in the hanging were side by side. I much prefer them this way. :)
this was a sew along by Kathleen Tracy last year
the hearts from earlier this month. The last 2 hearts i made into pincushions
Now to wait & see what the number for March is. :) Thanks to Deana for encouraging us again this year.

FNSI February

I had a nice early start to my day. First thing to do was get out the scrap basket of blues to make this months RSC blocks. Fabrics chosen time to start lots of cutting out. :)

First to be made were the little button blocks

moving along to the kite blocks
I had wanted to add a 3rd project to RSC but couldn't decide. After seeing a potato chip block/quilt i decided on that as it was on my "make one day" list. I only go so far as cutting them out. :) I hope to sew them today.
In the evening i finished of the embroidery on this. Just a few french knots & some satin stitch was all that was needed.
Now to make up the stocking. Last project of the day was to start a Lucy block
