I absolutely love you list of colors! My husband & I build custom homes & we chose Sherwin Williams Naval (Navy Blue), plus used a lovely stone & Sherwin Williams Alabaster for the trim. It is such a a gorgeous color & I concur with you is anything but depressing! We have many people ask what color it is. Giving much thought to using Iron Ore very soon. Excited to blend stone & cedar with this one, too!

  2. Do you happen to know the color for the trim and beams on #7 (Chelsea Gray)? We love this color combination and want to try a small sample on our home. Thanks!

  3. While I enjoy your articles your color choices are very depressing.
I live in a new develoment and it seems as though most people chose varying shades of gray, or blue gray. That is also depressing. The world is depressing enough without looking at these depressing colors. Just my opinion. (We chose barn red for our home just to be different.)

    1. Each to their own! I would personally get very tired of a red house (it’s my absolute least favorite color) but it’s important to do whatever makes YOU happy! White, gray and blue continue to be the most popular choices because they have a calming (not depressing) effect for most people.

    2. I agree that housing colours these days are just boring. In travelling abroad and seeing all the different colours of homes(Iceland), you realize what a difference it makes. The whole place looks happy. I’m a designer too but refuse to do grays.
