sometimes things are not that deep

i think the emergence of safe spaces especially in the common vernacular has caused people to assume that every space needs to be a safe space, but safe spaces are literally for things like… group therapy, resource centers, places where you actually need the assurance that it’s okay to speak freely and people won’t give you shit for it

but genuinely, as nicely as i can say this: the world is never going to be your safe space

you can demand respect from the people you interact with, but that’s about it. people don’t have to coddle you, and they’re not evil or gross for not doing so. not everyone is going to give you leeway, you really do have to develop a thick skin to make it through life.

it’s still important to place value on empathy of course, but you can’t forcefully sanitize life. i am not trying to be mean, i am genuinely trying to help here. please it’s just! not that deep!

i listened to a podcast episode about the 2004 mass grave in norwich that was determined through dna testing and historical evidence to be from a 1190s antisemitic attack on jewish communities. something interesting the researchers were able to discover is that one of the victims was between the age 0-3 years and had red hair and blue eyes. three sisters aged somewhere between 5-19 were also murdered. 6 adults and 11 children. time is a circle.

“as a jew—” - guy who doesn’t engage at all whatsoever with the jewish community or meaningfully connect with their jewish identity at all and only brings up being jewish when they’re explaining why It’s Not Antisemitic It’s Antizionist to call jews child killing zionazi pedophiles who drink the blood of palestinian babies during passover

“As a Jew—“ -person who was raised as atheist, and considers themself a neopagan, but found out they have 10% Jewish ancestry

Found this podcast on ancient Israel and the use of comparative religion to understand the Tanakh. Sounds great right? Well the host is a militant anti Zionist former Christian who constantly whines about ‘israel’s colonial ambitions’ and 'israeli occupied Meggido’, and 'happy Dhimmi’. To make matters even more insulting the guy seems to avoid using the work of Israeli and even Jewish scholars. Even not naming any Israeli archeologists but naming literal British colonists who looted the place. Just another reminder that Jews don’t control or own our history. Even during the iron age based on discoveries mostly made by Israeli Jews like Yigal Yadin, Ammon Ben Tor, Abram Faust, etc

its amazing how many times xtians reinvent supercessionism

The thing I have noticed is that pretty much every group of antisemites, Jew-haters, believes or at least claims to believe that Jews have too much power. Virtually all Jew-hate is predicated on this belief that the Jews are powerful and should not be. This is why you almost always see people responding to Jews talking about Jew-hate, talking about the oppression and bigotry we face, by insisting that we are the real oppressors. Jew-hate is, across all political and religious spectrums, a false and conspiratorial statement about Jewish power.

And yet Jew-haters keep acting in a way that makes it clear that at least on an unconscious, instinctive level, they understand that the Jews do not in fact have this power that they insist we do.

If antisemites believed the conspiracy theories were true antisemites wouldn’t dare speak ill of us for fear they would lose their job, their family, their money, their home, their citizenship, their freedom, and their life in some form of Jew controlled space laser, lightning strike combo.

The other consistent aspect is always assuming/accusing us of being lying and untrustworthy, building on 2000 years of the two biggest religions in the world painting us as that. Very convenient for them, when they decide that the people (if they even see us as people) they’re being racist towards are actually all lying about it (unless they agree with the antisemite, in which case they’re One of the Good Ones).
