stop borrowing grief from the future challenge FAILED
Man, it would be the thinnest of upsides to this malevolent clown show if this once and for all destroyed the REPUBLICANS ARE GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY myth that has been kneecapping the country since Reagan. But since four years after Trump 1, people completely memoryholed everything he did and everything much worse he was planning to do this time and just shrugged and voted for him again, my hopes are. Hmm. Not high.
On the other hand, if that’s what it takes to get the Republicans to lose the House and Senate for 60 years again….
I’m actually so terrified. It took two years for my mother to get SSD (despite her having every possible ailment). She’s alive because of the affordable care act. It took 4 months of no insurance when her lack of income transferred her to Medicaid and it took them that long to send the approval.
She just got both of those in February and March. Now her back payment for SSD is delayed and may never come. Medicaid may be cut. SSD is in danger from so many angles. The economy is crashing. She has no savings left and lives with an abusive spouse. She can’t afford a divorce or to move out without selling their mutually owned house.
I cannot afford to support us alone (hence why we haven’t moved out already). And it’ll only get worse with the tariffs, mass layoff, cutting programs/services, etc.
But “both sides are the same,” right?
