"Swan" ball gown, by Charles James, ca. 1951-1953  This is probably in my top 3 favorite Charles James designs, especially the black version! The best part of this ball gown are the multi colored tulle that James layered underneath, so whenever the wearer moved, danced, or walked up the steps, you are treated to a sudden burst of color! I believe he also did the same for his "Butterfly" and "Tree" gowns.
