why don’t you look out a stranger’s window and a glimpse of a life completely different and very like yours and remember we’re all interconnected. and maybe you’ll calm down.

I’d forgotten the name of this site, thank you! It’s so peaceful and calming to look out from everyone’s windows. Every view is beautiful somehow, even the urban ones.

Highlights of what I’ve seen on this site

  • A sunny playground in Philidelphia
  • Someone with the same name as me who lives next to some train tracks in Edinburgh
  • Three cute dogs belonging to someone in Sao Paulo
  • A sunbathing cat in Singapore
  • A snowball fight in Istanbul
  • A supercell storm in Chicago
  • A painter in Verona
  • A flock of cardinals in Bandera

Hmm actually Lucy Gray is different from Haymitch and Katniss and Peeta because her tragedy is she caused the games to continue. If the games hadn’t become entertaining, they wouldn’t have continued and she made it entertaining because she was an entertainer - she saved herself but she doomed dozens more because she performed too well and it allowed the Capitol to make the games a performance in the later years. Haymitch’s tragedy is that he couldn’t end the games, Lucy Gray’s is that she continued them.

sometimes i just think about the immense history that’s implied in the hunger games. they vaguely know that panem used to be called north america, but it’s been so long.

somehow we got to the system with the capitol facilitating the production of goods around the districts and ruling over them. somehow we got the names “capitol” and “districts”. were the district each different groups of survivors that the more well-equipped capitol steadily outright conquered?

or were there trade agreements that were more favorable and then eventually grew more and more draconian like the way that american settlers became worse and worse towards native american tribes?

did the numbering system come along from the order in which they were drawn into panem? the idea that’s been pitched that the capitol is in salt lake city and the combination of mormon apocalypse prepping and the well-organized, hierarchy-based system of the mormon church was able to make way for this brutally efficient post-apocalyptic system of government that eventually shifted culturally over time to become panem makes a LOT of sense, but there’s still so many steps between the apocalypse that destroyed the united states and what we know about panem pre-dark days.

we know from tbosas that avoxes were already a well-established thing pre-dark days. there’s just so MUCH implied history and i don’t want suzanne to fill in the dots entirely but i want to pull at different pieces of worldbuilding here like a scab

it really is crazy how quickly people were willing to just let chatgpt do everything for them. i have never even tried it. brother i don’t even know if it’s just a website you go to or what. i do not know where chatgpt actually lives, because i can decide my own grocery list.

i wisely turned off the notes on this when it was at 700 but oh my god stop telling me what you “just” use it for in the notes shut the fuck up shut the fuck up I AM NOT A CATHOLIC PRIEST, I DO NOT ABSOLVE YOU. WRITE YOUR OWN EMAILS.

When you grow up in an abusive home, you don’t become a people pleaser to please people. You become a people pleaser to keep the potential for more abuse away.
