its extremely funny that people think the little fast food delivery purity seals actually do anything for the consumer. if a doordasher wants to steal your food they can just fucking not deliver it and lie that they did
every single means of detecting whether a delivery person did fraud (which are numerous) are easily subversible short of putting a literal GPS tracker on the food itself. despite this, doordash has an insanely high delivery success rate relative to its low pay and entry requirements for dashers.
the presence of these social placebos like proof of delivery photos and ‘food safety seals’ in spite of the high compliance rates of drivers well before their introduction and the high compliance rates of drivers despite the ineffectiveness of them tells us that the seals do not exist to protect the food, but rather represent a belief that gig workers are subhuman and somehow incapable of controlling their base desire
