Cemetery symbolism stones

moonwolf-07: I thought this was an unusual gravemarker. Is it a statue of the deceased??? I don't know, but it makes you think that he was probably a very smart man. I thought it was kind of cool. What do you guys think? Comments? Does anyone else have anything to post that might fit this catagory? I would be very interested to see them. Thanks.

Mary Freeman was buried at Eastern Cemetery in Portland in 1785. Her headstone features a number of classical elements. The columns on the sides represent a noble life. The urn represents immortality and the return of the body to its final resting place. On the urn is a winged face, the symbol of a soul in flight to the afterlife.
