The Bird Girl statue has been a beloved Savannah icon ever since she graced the cover of John Berendt’s best-selling book “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil” in 1993. The photograph was taken by Jack Leigh and shows the Bird Girl in her original placement at Bonaventure Cemetery, in the Trosdal family plot where she’d stood for more than fifty years.
