Read to Self anchor chart features different strategies and rules for independent reading. Be a leader! Be a reader! 1) find a good fit book. 2)find a comfortable place to sit. 3) sit still. 4) keep your eyes on the book. 5) read quietly. 6) stay focused. 7) look at the pictures. 8) sound-out new words. 9) think about what might happen next.

Read to Self anchor chart in kindergarten. After going creating traditional Daily 5 anchor charts with students, I made these using Scrappin Doodles clip art. Colored (that is crayon wax melting from her bangs- oops) laminated, and using a Vis-a-Vis (they don't smudge as Expo's do) we talked about what the students body and made notes. Had to make some alterations to hands/eyes with some of the art so that they were "on the book". LOL. Kids said the eyes were creepy. Ha!
