Capsicum pubescens est species plantarum fructiferarum in America australi sponte crescens. In Peruvia et Bolivia iam diu culta est; in Mexico, Indonesia alibique recenter (sed rarius) sub climatibus tropicis montanis colitur. Fructus aromaticus, sicut capsica alia, condimentum et salsamentum sapore calido praebet. Varietas Peruviana principalis rocoto appellatur.
Pungentia fructuum Capsici pubescentis ope trium capsaicinoideum efficitur, videlicet capsaicini, dihydrocapsaicini, nordihydrocapsaicini.[1]
Embamma seu salsa, nomine llajua, e fructibus huius speciei seu C. cardenasii in Bolivia parari solet; embamma llatan in Peruvia, aliis aromatibus adhibitis, conficitur.
