The art history version of “you’d look prettier if you smiled more”
you know what? fuck this *un-smiles your painting*
HAD to keep @furbearingbrick ’s tag:
He gave her softer eyes, bigger breasts, a sweet inviting smile, narrower arms and wrists, and a less emphatic chin. A complacent and Proper Maiden for his smug consumption.
That is NOT what the artist painted.
The artist painted the cleaned image. Thank goodness and highly skilled people that we get to see it.
I’m so mad that the restored version is cropped in the photos there. I badly wanted to see the whole background cleaned. That SKY. SHOW ME IT.NEVERMIND. The fucker who added boobs and a coy smile also pasted on a whole strip of new canvas at the top and slapped a skyline on there. o_0
Why didn’t the guy just make his own damn painting at this point

Btw much as I love to make fun of twitter and reddit’s business decisions, I have 0% trust in tumblr’s management to not go a similar route so this is your gentle reminder that you should regularly go to your blog settings to export your blog. That’s a fancy way of saying you can download a backup of your blog so if everything goes down you’ll still have a backup of your posts & convos.
It’s gonna come as a surprise to most of you, but if you don’t want to do that for whatever reason you’re allowed to not reblog this post. I’m not holding a gun to your head here I’m just trying to spread the word for people who do want a backup of their stuff.
Also, made this guide for backup Tumblr blogs (ft. export blog method, and python 3 script method):
I’d just like to clarify some things about Senator Cory Booker’s marathon Senate speech in protest of the present administration and everything they are doing to the American people.
Senator Booker was NOT allowed to sit down, eat, or use the bathroom during his speech. Sitting or leaving the room to use the bathroom would be considered yielding the floor. Eating would have interfered with his speaking and the person who has the senate floor must continue to speak, except when listening to questions that they will then answer.
He only took occasional sips of water.
The person who previously held the record for longest speech on the Senate floor did have bathroom breaks and also did things like read from the encyclopedia.
Senator Booker did not do that. His speech was to point out the damage that this administration is doing and he stayed on that subject.
Senator Booker’s speech did reach many people. It wasn’t a silly stunt that was done so that he could take the record for longest speech. He wanted to show the country that democrats will do something to bring attention to the problems we are facing. That democrats are listening to them.
Senator Cory Booker spoke for 25 hours and 4 minutes to “make good trouble.”
also like, a Black man breaking Strom Thurmond’s record is absolutely *chef’s kiss*
for those who are too young to know about Strom, he was literally a white supremacist
He trained himself to give this speech by practicing and then implementing limits on food and water intake leading up to this. He cut out food for days, then cut out water the day before.
He then went to do an appearance on Maddow after yielding.
If First Felon had expectations of honor and integrity like a normal administration, he would have to leave the golf course and spend his time replacing all these traitors.
Remember this? It was last week.
Remember when we said that, as stupid and bad as this was, there was something even more stupid and bad coming that we didn’t know about, but would wipe this entirely out of everyone’s memory?
Of COURSE nobody’s been held accountable. Nobody ever will.
And next week, something even more stupid and bad, that we can’t even predict, will happen.
I will never forget and I will never forgive the people who did this to us.
Hi can I have your attention for a bit
Alawites are a religious minority in Syria and we are currently facing genocide.
If you’re out of the loop, in December Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad was deposed and replaced with leadership from Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, a terrorist organization with ties to al-Qaeda. In the months since then Alawite genocide has progressed pretty heavily.
1. This division goes back to the days of Assad.
2. This was mostly skipped but it’s not hard to know when someone is an Alawite given their name and where they’re from.
3. In the past, Alawites suffered from extreme poverty and lack of opportunities and were forced to either join the military or work government jobs. After the regime change mass layoffs from government positions hit Alawite majority areas, leaving thousands without stable income.
4. During the so-called “security campaigns” conducted by government forces, Alawite civilians were detained and called “Nusayri dogs/pigs/etc” (Nusayri is a derogatory term for Alawite) and sometimes forced to make animal noises (such as barking).
5. The government sent security forces to the Alawite-majority coastal areas, who often conduct the aforementioned “security campaigns”, such as one two days ago in Latakia city that had at least 13 dead.
6. Whenever the government conducted the “security campaigns” they said it was against “remnants of the regime” to sway public opinion among non-Alawites into thinking these people were the ones that killed civilians in the days of Assad.
7. After some minor skirmishes between Alawites and Security forces in Jableh city, the government sent the military to the coast.
8. As I’m writing this multiple massacres against Alawites have occurred and are occurring in the coastal countryside.
9 and 10 are yet to start.
We call for the UN and the international community to step in to end this ASAP. Please help us.

Western media reporting seems to vary with the characterization of the clashes, some (including cnn, nyt, apnews, and others) appear to use the official narrative. other outlets (like the bbc, reuters, and others) say it for what it is, sectarian killing.
Updated death toll according to Syrian Street 24, an independent Syrian news channel:
7 murdered in dweir baabda and beit ana
24 murdered in al-shir
38 murdered in al-mukhtariyeh (shown above)
7 murdered in al-haffeh
2 murdered in yahmour
22 murdered in qurfeis
at least 60 murdered in other locations.
Which gives a total of 162 murdered men women and children. However this is not a complete death toll, as some estimates go as high as 1700 murdered over the entire coastal region.
For the first time in my life, the majority of Americans have a negative view of Israel
The Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund (PCRF) is still and always in need of donations. Whether you can offer a dollar or a hundred, please do what you can to fund the powerful and direct support the PCRF is offering during this horrific genocide. Continue to share these resources, and do not let yourself become used to the violence and terror that Palestinians are living through. The money donated to the PCRF will not only offer immediate support to families, but will continue to be used to rebuild and recover in the long term.
“Our “Gaza Relief and Recovery” campaign aims to address urgent humanitarian needs and support long-term recovery efforts in Gaza. The funds raised will primarily focus on immediate relief, including providing essential medical supplies, food, medical treatment, clean water, and other necessities for families affected by the conflict. Additionally, our campaign will support rebuilding healthcare facilities and providing long-term support through impactful programs and projects to support the needs of children and the health sector in Gaza. It will also allocate resources towards trauma counseling, mental health support, and other initiatives for children affected by the conflict, aiming to foster healing and resilience within the community.” (PCRF, 2024).

“I would like to quote what you said last time that there’s nothing that’s more important to this court than due process rights and fundamental fairness. Clearly what we witnessed today, neither of these principles were present today or in this whole process.
"This is exactly why the Trump administration has sent me to this court, 1,000 miles away from my family,” he added. “I just hope that the urgency that you deemed fit for me are afforded to the hundreds of others who have been here without hearing for months.”
A Louisiana immigration judge ruled Friday that activist Mahmoud Khalil can be deported.
Khalil, who as a Columbia University graduate student led pro-Palestinian protests there last year, was detained last month after Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he had determined that Khalil’s activism was antisemitic and that allowing him to remain in the country would undermine a U.S. foreign policy goal of combatting antisemitism around the world.
During a hearing at the remote Louisiana detention center where Khalil is being held, Judge Jamee Comans said she had no authority to question Rubio’s determination.
After the ruling, Khalil told the judge, “I would like to quote what you said last time that there’s nothing that’s more important to this court than due process rights and fundamental fairness.
Khalil will not immediately be deported. His attorneys have said that if he were ordered deported, they would appeal the judge’s ruling. Comans gave Khalil until April 23 to request a stay of his deportation if his attorneys believe he qualifies for one. And the judge said if they don’t meet that deadline, she will order him deported either to Syria, where he was born, or to Algeria, where he is a citizen.
“If Mahmoud can be targeted in this way, simply for speaking out for Palestinians and exercising his constitutionally protected right to free speech, this can happen to anyone over any issue the Trump administration dislikes,” said Marc van Der Hout, one of Khalil’s attorneys.
Khalil, who has a green card, is a lawful permanent resident. In ordering Khalil’s deportation, Rubio relied on a rarely used federal statute from the 1950s that played a major role in shaping American immigration during the Cold War. The McCarran-Walter Act, or the Immigration Nationality Act of 1952, gives the secretary of state authority to decide that a non-citizen’s presence in the United States threatens the country’s foreign policy goals.
Khalil, 30, was arrested March 8 at the university-owned apartment building in New York City where he lives with his wife, a U.S. citizen who is pregnant. He was transported to the Jena/LaSalle Detention Facility in Jena, La., where he has been held since.

Disgraceful. So much hate and cruelty in this world.
Debunking time: yeah, this is fake
For the umpteenth time, misinformation doesn’t become good when you agree with its narrative.
MISINFORMATION DOESN’T BECOME GOOD WHEN YOU AGREE WITH ITS NARRATIVE!!!
^^ Misinformation that makes people feel superior, smarter, smug, or correct, is a big part of how people are radicalized, and how they stay radicalized. In this case, the misinformation bolsters the idea that it’s okay to antagonize people who voted for Trump, that we SHOULD shove it in their faces and blame them individually and directly for how bad things are going.
And as satisfying as that might feel to some people in the moment, that is putting your short-term satisfaction above the work that needs to be done to improve this country. Because being a jerk to Trump voters who are reeling or starting to wonder if they made a mistake does not grow the anti-Trump coalition. It does not give them an off-ramp out of MAGA thinking. It does not create a community where all people are welcome. And that’s the goal, right? To build a broad coalition that prioritizes everyone’s safety and wellbeing?
Also, I’m glad to see this debunked, because I had seen that quote and was trying to find a reputable source for it and couldn’t.
A Florida high school teacher was excused from her role after referring to a student by their preferred name without their parents’ permission, according to multiple reports.
The teacher, Melissa Calhoun, worked at Satellite High School, an arts magnet school in Brevard County, since 2019, but her contract was not renewed after a student’s parent told the school district that Calhoun was referring to a name that aligned to a student’s gender identity rather than their legal name, according to The Washington Post.
After the parent told the district, Calhoun acknowledged that she called the student by their preferred name, The Post continued. But this violated a Florida legislation that requires parents to sign off on their students being referred to by names other than their legal name — including both nicknames and chosen names that may align with a student’s gender identity — through the “Parental Authorization for Deviation from Student’s Legal Name Form.”
The 2023 Florida Board of Education rule falls in line with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ ® “war on woke.”
Similar legislation is in place in several states, but this reportedly marks the first instance in which a teacher has lost their job over it.
Her contract is set to end in May, and Brevard Public Schools informed her last week that they will not renew it. She had been with Brevard Public Schools for more than 12 years.
The school district spokeswoman Janet Murnaghan told the Post that the district “supports parents’ rights to be the primary decision-makers in their children’s lives, and Florida law affirms their right to be informed.”
“Teachers, like all employees, are expected to follow the law,” Murnaghan added.
