gripping and electrifying from start to finish. it's not the most cliche-free or most original story of its genre, but rose glass directs the entire film with an intense and fiery energy that's unlike most of its own. the actors' mix of chaotic camp and unbridled unhingement are so captivating to watch interact with each other, especially when it comes to the movie's more shocking moments. that magical realist ending's bound to throw people off, but i thoroughly enjoyed the overall commitment to the project and just having fun with what it's doing.
