First time watching again in like a decade. Not to be that person, but the book was indeed much better. Firm believer that not everything needs to be made into a movie.
The pacing was off — simultaneously was too quick and dragged too much. I didn’t get a chance to connect with the characters or explore their complex relationships, so I actually ended up caring about none of them. A lot of the key pivotal moments of the book were either glazed over or just not included at all, even though it would’ve not only made sense to but also would’ve elevated the movie that much more. Acting was also really questionable at times and so was the dialogue (kinda cringe), but there were very occasionally some genuinely tender and well performed moments.
