Michael Bay’s directorial voice is nothing if not distinct, and he specializes in the same vulgar, overcranked pulp his forefather Tony Scott was frequently drawn to. As with Scott, the ones I actually enjoy are the exception and not the rule. One viewer’s maximalism is another viewer’s soulless junk.
