A fun heist film led by a bunch of ordinary people who are all driven by their own valid reasons.

People don't give Tower Heist its props because it's nothing really new, but there's nothing wrong with it too which WOULDN'T provoke double standards we have as audiences/critics of these films.

The problem with most heist films is the cliché of Deus ex machinas, or out-of-nowhwre plot devices, which somehow save the protagonists, but Tower Heist is structured quite well so these clichés don't appear. Brett Ratner does a great job pacing the film, setting up the plot's chess-pieces, and making us feel how we're supposed to feel about its characters.
