THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST KIDS MOVIES EVER AND I'M HERE TO TELL YOU WHY
-i feel like rodriguez perfectly encapsulated everything kid me thought was the coolest shit: gadgets? check. the grand spielberg tradition of having kid leads that are smarter than idiot adults? check. sword-fighting with a skeleton after a lord of the rings reference? CHECK.
- carmen cortez and gerti giggles are THE feminist icons who i would die for
-juni's middle name is rocket racer which is the actual name of one of robert rodriguez's sons making him....rocket racer rodriguez
- speaking of juni....pretty cool to have a young male lead who is unflinchingly sensitive, loves ballet and is emotionally intelligent
- SPY MAMA
- DO YOU THINK GOD STAYS IN HEAVEN BECAUSE HE TOO LIVES IN FEAR OF WHAT HE CREATED
-bringing the 'shi...taki mushrooms' gag back and improving it
- it covers all kinds of family dynamics, stressing that family can be really important but you don't need to stick up for them if they're assholes
- it ends on a musical number for literally no reason
in my opinion, it's better than the first except that the first has the 'story of the two spies who fell in love' aka the greatest sequence cinema has ever seen and also i'm twenty one years old and STILL WANT TO BE CARMEN CORTEZ SO BADLY. GOD.
