As someone who is both asexual and aromantic, I have really mixed feelings about Marnie. On one hand, it's exhilarating to see a woman who is explicitly not interested in sex with men (and, presumably, women as well, were that an option) on screen. While I don't quite share Marnie's abject terror of sex, I certainly share her aversion to it and, if a Scottish monster blackmailed me into marrying him, I could well respond exactly the way Marnie does, if/when he assumed that paper marriage meant a right to sex.
