jaythebat’s review published on Letterboxd:
Not confused with Larry Cohen's 'the ambulance' which I watched a couple of days ago and scored higher, it might as well be easier to just bullet point why as this isn't necessarily a bad movie but:
The comparisons to Grand theft auto are legit, however playing GTA is wayyyyyy more fun .
Also the film makes it difficult to root for anyone as when real life characters make really stupid decisions (smack the copper on the head or kick him really hard in the face FFS ) it doesn't matter if your wifes got cancer didnt make me think you were a good guy.
Didn't much care for the other characters.
We had to introduce mexican gangs as we can't kill coppers.
Action scenes and stunts are edited, cut, camera swoops in, etc etc that they might as well be CGi'd.
It's too fucking long .
So for a Friday night it was OK, can't say I've ever been a bay fan (but am a Larry one) but can't see me watching either Ambulance related movies again.
