Jack Bekmezci’s review published on Letterboxd:
Bong's feature debut really showcases just how much talent he had in the early stages of his career.
He may have gone on to do larger and more provocative outings but there's something so appealing about watching his work within a lower budget. Everything that the director is renowned for is still here, dark comedy, visual energy, a indictment of working culture and how those suffer below it. It's all here at the very start!
It may drag its ideas a little too thinly but it all comes together for some very memorable set pieces and interesting characters to follow. The angst both leads feel in their situation dependent on corrupt organisation and unfulfilling labour still resonates today and their compulsion to act out (for better or worse) is very engaging.
A forgotten gem in Bong's filmography that in my opinion deserves more recognition.
