“Jealousy is a disease. remember that, Diamond!”

truly LOVED it. might be my favorite sean baker film but haven’t settled on that yet. the florida project and tangerine will always have a place in my heart. I’ve heard so much buzz about mikey madison’s performance in this over the past 6 months and i have to say, even with all the hype, she exceeded my expectations. that final scene and final moment particularly will stick with me. I don’t want to share my exact interpretation of it because like mikey said i think it can be personal and interpretated in different ways. I felt for her in every moment. she portrayed the character of ani so well. she subtly showed her pain  and  sadness. she  masked it with anger and frustration and even humor at times but you could see how much she wanted that fairytale ending, even though this extreme set of events might not be relatable, i think we can all relate to ani in a way; having dreams of getting out of a particular situation and that hope crashing down around us. being called demeaning names by close minded, ignorant people, working a job that everyone seems to have a problem with except you, but at the same time dreaming of an easier life. i can go on and on about the ways this can be relatable. It was also hilarious, and sometimes a “laugh so you don’t start crying or pannicking” scenerio. couldn’t recommend it more and i just know mikey is taking that oscar!!
