Idk, I think the rest of y’all don’t know how to have a good time. It was like you rewatched every 2000’s /Disney Chanel original movie, took all of the stereotypical filmmaking 101 cinematography shots, awkward dialogue, blatant product placement/remade name brands and surface level characters and then compiled them into a new movie and cut it down so much it felt like you were watching the movie on 2x speed. I loved that it had the structure and stereotypes of a 2000’s film while also referencing the ✨contemporary era✨ by using the ick as an allegory for COVID-19, the inclusion of idiotic internet challenges, modern stereotypes like the “woke” boyfriend and popular media like stranger things. Don’t get me wrong, this movie is bad; the cgi is awful, the pacing was bonkers, the Troy Bolton hair was not doing any favours for Mr. Wallace and it’s really not that deep. BUT I DONT CARE! it’s a parody! That’s like the whole point. Maybe it was the weed or maybe I’m just easily entertained or maybe I have reached a higher consciousness that can appreciate art for what it really is. Either way, I support this film. It’s BAD bad and I love it.
